Feelin Good

I've had a really long couple of months dealing with my hips (especially lefty!) I used to get so pumped if I had a day or two where my pain was a manageable and I could do more during the day.  I feel like I have forgotten how bad it has been b/c of how many good days I have had the past month. Now I have had my fair share of bad days in December, but compared to the end of summer and all of fall, I am feelin good! It's about time I started to feel better!  I think the piriformis injection last month made a pretty huge difference, along with getting a lot stronger doing my PT!  Woo hoo!  I have to say I was pretty nervous about "graduating" from PT.  I have been doing really well with keeping up with my PT at home but haven't kept the promise I made to myself to go to the gym.  I really wanted to start walking on the treadmill and working on my upper body strength. I have really neglected my upper body...I'm all flab :(  I feel like I have been extra careful with doing anything that could make my back hurt again.  I also have 3 bulging discs in my neck so I don't want to do anything too strenuous but would like to get a couple bicep curls in!

I was kind of worried about going back to work yesterday.  I typically stand a lot at work and do some physical activity (lots of bending, lifting, moving somewhat heavy objects) so I wasn't sure if my 2 weeks off would be a big deal.  I'm happy to report that it wasn't! I felt fine yesterday and today!  My hip is really achy now and clicking a lot but not too bad.  I'm hoping that this will last!  There are so many emotions that come into play when dealing with all these hip issues that it is nice to get a little break!  I even felt good enough yesterday that I decided to talk to my boss about weaning myself back into working full time at work.  I have been working half days since the end of October (I took 8 weeks off mid Aug-mid Oct and was pretty much on bed rest).  I hate not being able to work.  It really sucks.  I really like my job and am a really driven person so not being able to function the way I normally do has been really hard to handle.  It's frustrating beyond belief.  Well, my boss didn't think it was a good idea.  He wants me to continue working half days until my hip gets fixed.  I'm glad that I have such a supportive boss and company but am sooo worried that it won't always be that way.  I've had issues for almost a year now :(

I have an appointment tomorrow morning with my local hip specialist, Dr. N.  He is such a nice guy and surprisingly funny.  The appt is a follow up for my left knee and hip.  I'm hoping that he will take a look at the CT scan of my hip and go over it with me.  I'm really hoping that it is just inflammation that I see....crossing my fingers it's not arthritis :/
