12 weeks post-op

I can't believe it has already been 3 months!  It doesn't seem like it was that long ago that I had surgery. My incisions look good (at least I think they do).  I have been using Scar Away and think it is helping.  The incisions are still darker than I would like them to be, but hopefully another couple of weeks using Scar Away will do the trick.

I continue to have a slow recovery. In fact, this past month I have actually gotten worse compared to where I was 1 month ago....I am back to using crutches (rather than my walking stick), have had quite the increase in pain, and have lost some ROM.  I really think all the muscle issues I have been having are to blame. It's hard to say what is really going on. I am trying to continue to remain positive but it is a struggle.

I thought I would make a list of the things that have improved now that i have had surgery:
Improvements
1. My pain level is a little better
2. ROM
3. I can sit for longer periods of time
4. My lower back isn't as knotted up & doesn't hurt as bad
5. My SI joint doesn't pop as much
6. Glutes are turning on finally!
7. No more pinching and catching in the front of the hip!
8. Now that I am a little further out from surgery, my piriformis has calmed down a bit
9. I don't have to wear my knee brace everyday.....my knee is still problematic but less so post-op.

I'm glad that I have made improvements, but overall am disappointed with where I am at.  Hopefully my surgeon will be able to help me understand what is going on when I see him next.

  1. Hi Stacey! I found your blog through "Hip Chicks." I'm glad you are making some progress. I can definitely understand you being frustrated, but I hope the improvements continue! The "pinching and catching at the front of the hip" you described is also something I experience (ugh). I hope your next appointment goes well!
