Post-op Day 1

The dilaudid that the nurse gave me made me sleep for a good 4 hours. I woke up around 2 in the morning when the nurse came in to check on me. She stayed to talk to me for awhile which was really cool of her. In the morning Dr. Ellis stopped by in-between surgeries to check on me. Then PT came in to try to get me out of bed. Well, I made it to the door....then I started to black out so we decided that I should wait until later. I thought I would sleep it off, but my stomach had other plans. I started throwing up shortly after getting back in bed. Well if having a catheter hooked up to me and dangling over the edge of the bed wasn't embarrassing enough, why not add some other bodily fluid in the mix! Oh man, my poor husband! Oddly enough I seemed to be the only one completely creeped out by the catheter. PT came back for me a couple hours later. They really wanted to show me how to walk up and down a flight of stairs since the condo I live in is a tri-level. I did awesome! So, got discharged and headed to my parents place. I felt pretty dazed and confused the rest of the day from the meds.

  1. Sounds like a not so pleasant post-op experience. Your hubby did better than mine! Mine is petrified of needles and you know there are alot of those involved in surgeries!
