PT update

This week marks the 4th week since I have changed up my physical therapy routine. I thought I would give an update on how I am doing and the changes I made that have worked. I am excited to announce that I have made some subtle improvements the past month! Although nothing drastic has happened, I am at least making little improvements and have put a stop to the backwards landslide I was making there for awhile. My TFL doesn't flare as easily anymore and I have actually been able to side-step with my left leg without an increase in pain. Here's a list of the "formal" therapy I do: Monday Massage with trigger point release Tuesday Aquatic therapy Private Pilates reformer session with my physical therapist Wednesday Acupuncture Thursday Massage with trigger point release Aquatic therapy Friday PT with women's health therapist Private Pilates reformer session with my physical therapist Saturday Acupuncture Aquatic therapy Up until 2 weeks ago, I was seeing my physical therapist twice a week at PT. I have exhausted all 60 PT sessions that I am allotted for the year, so we decided that starting sessions on the reformer would be a good alternative and more worth my while since I will have to pay out of pocket either way. Luckily my physical therapist is also a Pilates instructor and deals with a lot of EDS patients. The first session was really hard and flared me up but since then the sessions have gotten easier and I really feel like I'm getting a workout in! Each day I wake up and do stretches to loosen my hip up and correct my alignment. I do a series of PT exercises 2 times each day (depending on how much formal therapy I have that day)and use e-stem & ice afterwards. I have unfortunately noticed that my core has gotten weaker....I had to stop some of the exercises that were causing me to flare plus my neck and shoulders have been killing me lately. I work hard each day and have noticed that I have gained some of my ROM back! I can't wait to let the Dr's know it's not a frozen hip! Unfortunately, I am still using both crutches and still cannot handle walking more than a block or 2:( I hope I don't have to have another hip surgery....guess I will just keep doing what I am doing and will cross my fingers that it fixes me!
